Hi guys
All of you who have been working on the latest creative project - writing drum parts for the song “Something Simple” have been doing a great job so far.
One of the themes that keeps recurring is the idea of keeping things simple and being ruthless in stripping out things that are not needed.
With this in mind I have gone through and applied the same attitude to the song’s arrangement and cut quite a few bars out of the song and I think I have come up with a much tighter arrangement.
I decided to edit the song down a week and a half ago. Just as most of the students were starting to get to grips with it. I think that this is a good simulation of what can happen when working with a band / songwriter as the song arrangement often changes as things develop. I’ve had this happen to me as late in the day as sitting behind the kit in the studio ready to record. It’s a good test of your musicality and flexibility and how fast you can adapt (a very important skill to develop).
Please note that this is the arrangement we will be working on from now on. Make sure you download the new version from you e-portfolio and get comfortable with it.
Good luck!
Neil
